7.It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. 8.God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. 9.And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10.so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11.filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God.
SUMMARY
For humans, 'self-centered' tendencies are like chronic diseases. But contrary to human expectations, the world does not revolve around individual egos and, moreover, is not designed to serve them. Life is not an entertainment. 인간에게 있어 ‘자기중심’성향은 고질병 같은 것이다. 그러나 인간의 기대와는 달리 세상은 개별적 자아들을 중심으로 흘러가지도 않으며 더욱이 그들에게 봉사하도록 만들어진 것은 아니다. 인간사는 오락이 아니다.
The world created by God has never been allowed to even think about “self”. This world is made in order to be the field to glorify God through Jesus no matter what happens. 하나님이 창조하신 세상은 본래 도무지 ‘나’라는 것을 생각하는 것조차도 허락된 적이 없는 곳이다. 이 세상은 무슨 일이 일어나더라도 예수님으로 인하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리는 장이 되도록 만들어졌다.
But the "self" is holding out in such a place like this absurdly. So, is there any way to deal with this "self"? The answer is "yes". It is to accept that “the responsibility of all human affairs does not rest with humans.” In other words, it is to acknowledge that the Lord Himself has done it all. That is, it is to admit that all that work is done by the Lord and that we humans are just benefiting from it. Jesus said, "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.(Matthew 5:45)." 그런데 그 같은 장소에 터무니없게도 ‘나’라는 것이 버티고 있다. 그렇다면 이 ‘나’를 처리하는 방법이라는 것은 있을까? 그 답은 “yes"이다. 그것은 ‘모든 인간사에 대한 책임이 인간에게 있는 것이 아니다’라고 하는 것을 받아들이는 것이다. 즉 그 모든 일은 주님께서 친히 행하신 것을 인정하는 것이다. 그 모든 일은 주님이 벌이신 것이고 우리는 그 혜택을 입는 것임을 아는 것이다. 예수님은 “이같이 한즉 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 아들이 되리니 이는 하나님이 그 해를 악인과 선인에게 비취게 하시며 비를 의로운 자와 불의한 자에게 내리우심이니라(마5:45)”라고 말씀하셨다.
Sadly, however, humans judge and conclude rashly about themselves, the world and even God with knowledge of the good and evil they have. Because of that misjudgment which God does not acknowledge, man suffers day and night without rest. So what God wants to see in his people is that they abandon their views and associate everything that happens to them with the word of God. God is honored by those who are like them ; they are the very fruit of the Lord. 그러나 애석하게도 인간들은 자신들이 가진 선과 악을 아는 지식으로 자기 자신과 세상과 심지어 하나님에 대해서조차도 판단하고 경솔하게 단정지어버린다. 하나님께서 인정하지 않는 그 잘못된 판단 때문에 인간은 마음이 쉬지 못하고 밤낮으로 시달린다. 그러므로 하나님이 자기 백성에게서 보시고자 하는 것은 그들이 자신의 관점을 버리고 자신들에게 일어나는 모든 일을 하나님의 말씀과 연관시키는 것이다. 하나님은 그 같은 자들에게서 영광을 받으시며 그러한 자들이 주님의 열매인 것이다.
Jesus said, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.(John 15:1-2).예수님은 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “내가 참 포도나무요 내 아버지는 그 농부라 무릇 내게 있어 과실을 맺지 아니하는 가지는 아버지께서 이를 제해 버리시고 무릇 과실을 맺는 가지는 더 과실을 맺게 하려 하여 이를 깨끗케 하시느니라(요한복음 15:1-2).”
It means that the saints themselves are the fruit of God. But if a fruit is proud of its own fruit or discouraged by its lack of fruit, it is their complete misunderstanding of themselves, the world and God.. There is no reason for the fruit to be flattered or discouraged in itself. No matter how much man wants to give glory to God and how much he wants to be saved, he will not be able to be honored to God unless he is the fruit Jesus Christ himself produced. 이것은 성도들은 그들 자체가 하나님이 맺으시는 열매라는 것이다. 그런데 열매가 자신의 열매됨에 대해 우쭐대거나 혹은 열매가 없는 것에 대해 낙담한다면 그들은 자신과 세상과 하나님에 대해서 완전히 오해하고 있는 것이다. 열매에게는 그 자체로서 우쭐 댈 근거도 낙담할 근거도 전혀 없는 것이다. 인간이 아무리 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 싶어 하고 또 자신이 구원받고자 원해도 그가 예수 그리스도께서 친히 생산해내신 열매가 아니라면 그는 하나님께 영광이 되지 않는 것이다.
So, in today's text, the apostle Paul is looking for someone who gives up his skill or self-management and testify only to the Lord's work. 그래서 사도 바울은 오늘 보문에서 자신의 솜씨나 자기 관리를 포기하고 주님의 일하심만을 증거 하는 그 누군가를 찾고 있는 것이다.
All the Lord does is take his people to the cross. Because the figure of Jesus on the cross is the appearance of the human being under the curse. The apostle Paul says that he has the heart of Jesus. This is his confession that he was crucified with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. 주님이 행하시는 모든 일은 자기 백성을 십자가로 데려가는 일이다. 왜냐하면 그 십자가에 달린 예수님의 모습은 저주 아래 있는 인간 자신의 본모습이기 때문이다. 사도 바울은 자신이 예수님의 심장을 가졌다고 말한다. 이는 그가 성령으로 인하여 예수님과 함께 십자가에 못 박혔음을 고백하는 말이다.
The apostle Paul always put in his preaching the standard to measure whether people are the true Lord's people or not. "As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. "This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ," he said(Acts 17:3)". 사도 바울은 사람들이 참된 주님의 백성인지 아닌지를 가늠 할 수 있는 기준을 자기 설교 안에 늘 담아내었다. “바울이 자기의 규례대로 저희에게로 들어가서 세 안식일에 성경을 가지고 강론하며 뜻을 풀어 그리스도가 해를 받고 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살아야 할 것을 증명하고 이르되 내가 너희에게 전하는 이 예수가 곧 그리스도라 하니(행17:2~3)”
Jesus had no help when he was crucified and stabbed in the side with a spear. The Lord was forsaken by all. However, those who equate their situation with that of Jesus come to be the people who share the heart of Jesus. Sharing a heart means that they are in love with each other. This is simply impossible with human ability. This is a miracle. For they love each other, the Lord and the saint share the secret that only they know. 예수님은 십자가에 못에 박히고 창으로 그의 옆구리가 찔릴 때 그 어떤 도움도 받지를 못하셨다. 주님은 모든 이로부터 버림받은 것이다. 그런데 이러한 예수님의 처지에 자신의 처지를 동일시하는 자들이 생겨났는데 이들이 바로 예수님의 심장을 공유하는 사람들이다. 심장을 공유한다는 것은 그들이 서로 사랑하는 사이라는 뜻이다. 이것은 인간의 힘으로는 도저히 불가능한 일이다. 이것은 기적이다. 서로 사랑하기에 주님과 성도는 그들만이 아는 비밀을 공유하는 것이다.
Those who have truly received the Holy Spirit admit that they themselves have already disappeared before the love of Jesus. After they miraculously meet Jesus, they learn that there is no more their own responsibility for themselves, and that from the beginning there was no such thing. This is the apostle's “defending and confirming the gospel” spoken of today in the text.참으로 성령을 받은 자들은 예수님의 사랑 앞에서 자신은 이미 사라져버렸다는 것을 인정한다. 그들은 기적적으로 예수님을 만나고 난 뒤 더 이상 자신이 책임질 일은 남아있지 않으며 처음부터 그런 일은 이 세상에는 없었다는 사실을 알게 된다. 이것이 바로 오늘 본문에서 말씀하시는 사도의 ‘복음을 변명(방어, 옹호)하고 확정함’이다.
The reason the saints do not need to be shaken by anything that is happening in the world is because “confirming the gospel” is in them. For that precious Gospel, God makes human beings take off the clothes, one by one, that hides their original nature. This is the Lord's work to separate his people from the world. 성도가 세상에서 일어나는 그 어떤 일에도 요동할 필요가 없는 이유는 ‘복음을 확정함’이 그들 안에 있기 때문이다. 그 귀한 복음을 위하여 하나님은 그 본래 모습을 가리고 있는 인간 내면의 옷들을 하나씩 하나씩 벗겨내신다. 이것이 자기백성을 세상으로부터 분리해내시는 주님의 일이다.
Before Jesus' heart comes in, humans live on their own hearts. That heart is a heart filled with a 'sense of good and evil' that they have inherit from their ancestors. They've been playing the game, 'good and evil' all their lives with this heart. But when they share the Lord's heart, they isolate themselves from the world, as did the cured 38-year-old sick man on the side of the Bethesda pond, and as did Sem and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and they isolate themselves from the world. These are the men covered in the blood of Jesus, who live contented with the love they share with the Lord on the basis of confirming the gospel. 예수님의 심장이 들어오기 전에는 인간들은 자기 심장으로 살아간다. 그 심장은 그들이 조상으로부터 물러 받은 ‘선악 의식’으로 가득 차 있는 심장이다. 그들은 이 심장으로 일평생을 ‘선악’ 놀이를 하며 살아왔던 것이다. 그러나 주님의 심장을 그들이 공유하게 되었을 때 그들은 고침을 받은 베데스다 연못가의 38년 된 병자가 그랬듯이, 그리고 노아의 아들 셈과 야벳이 그랬듯이 그들이 그동안 익숙해 있었던 자신과 세상의 가치관을 버리고 그들 자신을 세상으로부터 격리시키게 된다. 이들은 예수님의 피에 덮인 자들이며 복음을 확정함에 근거하여 주님과 나누는 사랑으로 만족하며 살아가는 자들이다.
